What is a Dry Type Transformer?

 

Transformers come in a range of types and sizes and a dry type transformer is one of those. This type of transformer has no moving parts and is what is called a static device. This type of transformer is used to change voltages and is cooled with environmentally friendly insulation systems as opposed to using things like water to cool the system. Since is does not use water, it is called a dry type transformer. This is a great transformer that is going to help to make the most of your transformer and is also going to be better for the environment and better for the area that it is set up in. These are not terribly common at this time as they are a somewhat new design and they are not necessarily the most cost effective if you do have a bit tighter budget. These also have a shorter lifespan than a typical oil type transformer and do need special work.
